    Wrap-up 2005

Wow! I haven't been blogging for very long, and I've already got a lot to be happy about.

First, I need to thank Chris Tarjan, Patrick, and Larry for getting me started. Chris opened my eyes to the blogosphere when we competed in the Milwaukee Talkstar competition. He told me that there were people out there that were actually talking about us. That's how I found Patrick and Larry (see here, and here). I couldn't resist responding to Patrick's analysis of my show, and that started a chain reaction that led to me eventually starting this blog in September.

Since then, I've challenged myself to make this blog into something people can enjoy. In these four months I've had 3200 visitors (and bots?) come by to see what I have to say. This past week, I've seen 50-70 hits per day. Since my other blog doesn't see that kind of traffic, I feel really good about those numbers. Thank you all, very much!

The blog is still evolving. I've got some ideas for next year, that will hopefully keep you all engaged. First, I'm keeping the Blog of Interest feature. I enjoy it, and I can see that you do, too. Some potential upcoming nominations include a video on thermite, a sexy classified ad, a jab at Osama Bin Laden, and more. I've also been trying to work on the template for this blog. I want to go to two side bars, but it's not going well. I've posted the source code here if anyone would like to help out.

The content of this blog is hopefully going to get more "newsy." I don't really want to become a political blog. It takes a lot to be unique in that "market." I just want to share interesting stories and my opinions with you, and I want fewer of them to be personal because personal stories don't generally generate comments. I like getting comments to my posts. That's how I know people are getting something out of my blog.

Another new addition that I'm considering is a photo blog. I'm no artist, but photo blogs are just so cool! If I decide to start photo blogging, I'll do it on Burning Down the House. That blog hasn't really been eveything I'd hoped. I've spent so much time breaking stuff around the house that I haven't had much interest in blogging about it. If I start photo blogging over there, it will give you (and me) more reason to visit.

    Yes. You should have.

I went in with zero expectations and had a blast. I can send you a link to the audio, if you've got a high pain tolerance. :)
