That's such a lame arguement.
Sykes can do what he pleases with his air time, so long as its not slander. If he chooses to use his work day to produce a fake ad, the company does pay for it. But they're not sponsoring the ad in the legal sense of the word.
Suppose Charlie chose to prepare a thirty second live read of all the reasons he doesn't support Jim Doyle, and presented it every day on his show. That's perfectly within his rights (except maybe within thirty days of the election).
