Letter to Osama
Dear Osama Bin Laden,
Your recent peace offering is a complete load of crap. Nowhere in your statement do you suggest a strategy which will end the fighting. What you have created is a propaganda piece, intended to rally support for your twisted cause. Worse yet, you have embellished the events that you speak of and presented your personal wishes as facts. Your followers may not see through this thin layer of lies, but half of America does. The other half voted for a guy who proudly touted three purple hearts that he threw away.

This clearly demonstrates that they have absolutely no idea what to believe.
I find it especially ironic that you accuse US soldiers of raping your women. While in any population of a few million males, there will be one or two that are capable of this heinous act, it is not standard operating procedure for the US military. And, who are you to take the moral high ground on this issue? You promote an ideology that treats women as objects, to be destroyed if they are less than pure. In your mind, raping a woman must be the moral equivalent of having sex with an unwilling toaster.
If you really want to promote change within the Unites States, I suggest that you run for office. It would be much more effective than your current approach, which quite frankly, is turning people off. Run for senate and use your position of power to make the statement that you are so desperate to express. There are states that will elect you to office, even though you aren't native to the area.

Please consider this my peace offering. I think you will agree that I have a much better plan than you.
Love always,
Aaron
P.S. How is the kidney holding up? I hope it stops bothering you really soon.
P.P.S. Send my regards to your niece, Wafah.

11 Amendments:
Too many points to comment on all of them. I will at least start with...
But our troops are raping, pillaging and plundering the country and breaking in to houses at all hours harassing women and children..... At least thats what the guy who threw away his three purple hearts said. If I believe anyone its some one who would negotiate with the enemey in Paris on behalf of his nation with no authority to do so, nominate himself for purple hearts when he was in charge and for injuries that were self inflicted, and paint himself orange for halloween.
Osama's offer of a truce reminds me of Saddam's offer to negotiate?
Aaron, That was a precious, thoughtful letter! I hope he'll read and consider it carefully. I'm sure he will. ;-)
There are many parts of it that I could quote and respond to, but you said it all quite well. I love the pics!! You should see some that I have of Kerry. haha And Hillary... oh dear god, that's a whole new subject, and I'd have to go off topic. She's scary.
Thoughts like yours are why the majority of the world hate America.
While I would never agree with Osama, you have no right to be in that part of the world, and christ maybe you should be democracy in place in your own country first before you force your own ideology on the rst of the world.
Anonymous,
I personally am not in that part of the world. And, I would sooner travel to the north side (or Gary, Indiana) than visit any of the countries in question.
They're yours to do with as you please, as far as I'm concerned. If the people over there are happy with the crappy governments that they have established, that's OK by me. And, if you want to split hairs, I suppose that I'm supporting the war even less now that I've quit smoking. That's fewer tax dollars at work.
However, when the people choose to swallow the rhetoric that the US is to blame for their crappy situation (and not the government that swallows up every dollar coming in to build elaborate palaces, harems, and hidey-holes) and they take actions against this country, well I have an issue with that. When that happens, the crummy government in charge has got to go. Hopefully, it will be replaced with something slightly less crappy.
I think it is wonderful that the internet has given you the ability to express your opinion here, without fear of retribution by some crummy government. Don't you?

And, please be accurate. You hate HALF of America. Which half, generally depends on which side of "the pond" you're on.
I'm also having difficulty figuring out which thoughts you are referring to exactly.
In my original post, I requested an honest PEACE deal. I do not promote going after anybody. I suggest that democracy works. And, I stand up for women's rights. Do you have an issue with one of these things?

Why anonymous?
"Thoughts like yours are why the majority of the world hate America."
What thoughts, specifically?
"While I would never agree with Osama, you have no right to be in that part of the world,"
Aaron's in Wisconsin. Where are you? Are you American?
"and christ maybe you should be democracy in place in your own country first before you force your own ideology on the rst of the world."
Be democracy in place in your own country... huh ?
*sigh*
I hate to do this, because I believe Anonymous is a member of my blogroll and a regular international visitor. But, Nikki has latched on to something.
The "anonymous" definition of democracy: everyone gets together and eventually decides to do what I think is right.
The real definition of democracy: everyone gets an equal opinion and we do what most of them say.
Fortunately, this country is a representative republic. We select a few individuals to do our bidding, and they do whatever the heck they feel like.
I think you scared Anonymous away... or he used a guerrilla war tactic of hit and run... then don't expect him to return.
With Anonymous' comments... too many points to dig into so I will start with...
Our country is a constitutional republic. We use a democratic processes. It is our obligation to be involved in our Government (of the people, by the people, for the people). You cannot say that what was gained for Iraq was not significant. We simply did what the UN could not and would not do. In the end the opportunity that these people have is a privilege that we have assisted them in recognizing and 70 percent are excercising their obligation.
My guess is that at least 70 percent of the world knows what we have done is right. Most of them are not gutsy enough to say so or do not have the privilege to do so. But 70 percent of 6 billion people are in agreement that freedom is an ideology that is right.
I think you scared Anonymous away...
If only Osama were that easy to silence.
Our country is a constitutional republic.
Outsmart the host... Thanks.
No intention to try to outsmart the host. Don't want my comment to be a conversation stopper. And no intention to have the last word either...
