What is Sick Time for, Anyway?

I left work at noon today, because I was starting to feel like I might lose my lunch. Two hours later, I discovered that I made the right choice. Be glad that I quickly decided not to live blog the event, unless making the sound "blog... blog" counts as blogging.

Before leaving work I filled in my time sheet, with four hours of sick time. This guilty little voice in my head said "you're gonna pay for that." It seems like most employers treat sick time as the third rail of earned time. You accumulate it, but you're NEVER supposed to use it. Some places will even force you to burn up vacation before they'll allow you to use sick time. What the heck is this all about? I can tell you that I'm not on vacation right now. The sunny beaches I'm dreaming of are a direct result of the oncoming fever.

To make this even more frustrating, I'm burning up yet another vacation day on Monday because I'm having windows installed. Does anybody know of an employer who allows you to accumulate "because nobody wants to accomodate my schedule" time? It seems like most of my earned vacation is spent babysitting contractors in my house. I still wish I could make Ashley Furniture compensate me for all my wasted time.

Hope you are well enough to make it tomorrow. I need someone to spot for me when I wait with the water balloons for Wigderson to come in with his Cowboys jacket on

I warned you guys about that nast bug like a week ago. Hope you feel better soon or you might be taking Tuesday off too. I didn't feel better for like 5 days.

That's what you get for starting to drink so early in the morning. (I hope my immune system is strong enough to resist a stomach bug.)

Actually, that's what he gets from drinking the water from where he works (heheheh) Nah, I hope he doesn't have that flu, it had me wanting to die for over a week, nasty stuff.

Clint, you are right, Owen wants poo, and who better to supply that than a guy that works at MMSD, so Aaron, you just HAVE to make it! :-)

Patrick, it was the coffee that got me feeling sick. I hope it wasn't pre-owned.
