Are fat people going to be the next widely protected class? Being morbidly overweight is not something that we should be "okay" with. It's unhealthy--something you can choose to change or exist with.
Americans are the fattest people in the world, and we're getting fatter every year.In a class the other week, a professor of mine berated a commercial that has a cartoon fish questioning if her fish bowl makes her look fat.
Using the World Health Organization's definition of obesity, 39 percent of Americans were obese in 2005, compared to 23 percent in Canada and the United Kingdom, 17 percent in Russia, 13 percent in Brazil and 2 percent in China.
The obesity rate in the United States increased more than 10 percent from 2002 to 2005, according to the WHO.
