I'm not sure there's a book on personality that will give you an idea of "normal" behavior - personality drives so much of what we are surprised by as well as kids hitting milestones (I think it's little indicator of development, etc.). Like Dr. Spock said, you can teach them to do everything except eat, sleep and go to the bathroom.
