Double Standard
June 20th, 2011-6:26 pm by sub2changeHey, what’s the body count in Libya?
I’m just asking because the MSM isn’t. Seems a bit neglectful, doesn’t it?

I hate to pick on another contributor over at Folkbum, because I don’t have any desire to get into a tit-for-tat with the blog. It’s just that I was reading this post (by Keith), which started out as a nice story that somehow grabbed my attention, and then I came across a line that stuck in my craw.
In part this impugns on the people who are active in the Republican party who want to be treated like rubes. Yes, 9/11 was terrible, but 5,000 planes went up that day and 4997 planes landed, as have pretty much all the planes since 9/11.
I just need to remind Keith that of those remaining 4997 planes, one of them landed very badly in a Pennsylvania field (or disappeared to who knows where, so the government could launch a missile at the Pentagon). They’re pretty sure nobody walked away from it. In the effort to whitewash 9/11, do we really need to forget what actually happened?

None of you need to be told what to think about the Virginia Tech shootings. So, I don’t really think I need to offer my opinion about the tragedy. I share your concern, of course. And, I may have some questions I’ll be asking on No Runny Eggs later.
There is something I want to say about the coverage, though. Patrick caught on to it. He caught the media trying to make news during an interview.
I think I’ve got one better. Under Larry King last night, the new crawler said “five shots fired,” right above the other crawler that was pronouncing 33 dead. Holy cow! Talk about your “magic bullet” theories!
Isn’t it just a little embarassing to let things like that go out on the air? Is the mad rush to present no new information (over and over) that important?
