This car was stuck in Fairwood Ave. A few brave (or disturbed) souls pushed it out of there after the rain stopped. The sewer behind it was creating a bubble dome more than a foot high.

The car ahead of him made it through, but this guy chickened out.
There was audio for the following video, but it doesn’t seem to have uploaded. The distorted part of the image is the water beginning to swirl down the drain.

A freak storm hit the area where I work in Columbus today. It was highly localized and hit hard. From the look of the radar it targeted the specific building that I was in! We lost power (except the generators) , radio, and phones.
When the lightning strike killed our computers we were already working late. On the way out to the parking lot someone told us there was three to six inches of water out there. The water was up to the bottom of my bumpers before I even got in, and I had to run through a downpour that must’ve been deep purple on radar.
A coworker and I attempted to find a route home. We drove through several deep puddles before giving up five blocks away and deciding to park our cars on higher ground, back where we came from.
I was too busy trying not to die to get any good video of the storm, but here’s a video of a rescue vehicle plowing through the street and creating a wake. There were cars floating on this street. I also saw sewage shooting up from the flood for a while. People from the neighborhood were playing in the water anyway (ewwww!).
We had to wait a few hours for the water level to drop. It’s good to be dry now!

When we went to the cave, this is what we saw. It’s dark, but you can see how high the water is. At the end I pointed the camera down to show the walkway.
Here’s what it normally looks like.
We were really lucky to be there this spring!

Kelly and I were invited by MKE to tour the Martin Ramirez exhibit at the Milwaukee Art Museum.
Be sure to pick up your copy this week and read our comments. We really did enjoy the exhibit. It’s outside the mainstream and quite unusual art. I won’t spoil it for you though. Part of what made this interesting was that shock value of not knowing much about the artist. If you’re interested in seeing the exhibit, we’ve got a bunch of tickets that I’ll probably be handing out at Papa’s next week.
They were running video of our visit, too. Keep an eye on MKEOnline for that tomorrow! And, check out the print version, too, because it’ll have even more good stuff in it.

Tomorrow is our second ultrasound, to try and figure out the baby’s gender. Our friends want to know as soon as we do, but Kelly has plans to go shopping right afterward.
Since I won’t be around to blog it, I may decide to use my cell phone to post a video on You Tube (using the new VCast features that you read about a few weeks ago).
The appointment is at 10am. Watch my You Tube profile for an update.
